The Providence Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Marvin Ridge Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Providence is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.3 runs per game this season.

Providence is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Union Academy just ended the team's 12-game winning streak on Wednesday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (5-4), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Casey Tomljanovic made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Pheonix Scott, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Marvin Ridge faced Weddington in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Mavericks walked away with a 4-1 win over the Warriors. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mavericks.

Providence's loss dropped their record down to 14-2. As for Marvin Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.

Providence couldn't quite finish off Marvin Ridge in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
