Basketball Recap: American Heritage Stallions vs. Atlantic Christian Sharks
The Atlantic Christian Sharks typically have all the answers at home, but on Thursday the American Heritage Stallions proved too difficult a challenge. They took down the Sharks 66-47. Given American Heritage's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Sharks are ranked 261st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
American Heritage found their leader in underclassman Brendan Gerard, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten assists. It was the first time this season that Gerard posted eight or more assists. Xander Gerard was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
American Heritage's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-6. As for Atlantic Christian, their defeat ended a 17-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. American Heritage will take on the Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Atlantic Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Pahokee is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
