Basketball Game Preview: Turner Ashby Knights vs. East Rockingham Eagles

The Turner Ashby Knights will head out on the road to challenge the East Rockingham Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Turner Ashby was handed a 41-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Broadway, sneaking past 58-56.

Meanwhile, East Rockingham entered their tilt with Rockbridge County on Saturday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. Everything went their way against the Wildcats as they made off with a 59-33 victory. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while the Wildcats are ranked 385th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Turner Ashby pushed their record up to 12-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points over those games. As for East Rockingham, their victory bumped their record up to 13-7.

Turner Ashby was able to grind out a solid win over East Rockingham in their previous meeting back in January, winning 73-62. The rematch might be a little tougher for Turner Ashby since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
