Baseball Recap: Patrick Henry Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Patrick Henry had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Swanton Bulldogs. That's more bragging rights for the Patriots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mack Hieber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cal Schroeder was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Aden Biederstedt was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Patrick Henry's victory bumped their record up to 11-3-1. As for Swanton, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

Patrick Henry and Swanton should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Patriots will challenge Elmwood at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (147 vs. 494). Meanwhile, Swanton (ranked 107th) will meet Edon (ranked 560th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
