Basketball Recap: Sweetwater's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Sweetwater had lost five straight headed into Tuesday's matchup, but Braelyn Gaytan didn't let it get to six. The Sweetwater Mustangs walked away with a 51-39 win over the San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy Eagles on Tuesday thanks in part to Gaytan, who went 7 of 11 en route to 23 points. What's more, she also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024.

Sweetwater's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-15. As for San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 18 of their last 19 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-23 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Grape Creek the next time they take the court. San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy will host Grape Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Sweetwater will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on February 4th.
