Football Recap: Howard Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Howard played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the KIPP P Pride and fell 50-3. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tyshaun Hassell threw for 64 yards on one of seven attempts. Joshua Simmons was his top target, picking up 64 receiving yards.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Josiah Esperance and Tamaues Person. Esperance rushed for 173 yards and three scores while picking up 7.5 yards per carry while Person gained 142 total yards and two touchdowns. Those 173 rushing yards gave Esperance a new career-high.

Howard now has a losing record of 2-3. As for KIPP P, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Howard will face off against North Edgecombe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 45 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for KIPP P, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Northwest Halifax at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
