Basketball Recap: Mechanicsville Comes Up Short

Mechanicsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a 93-74 bruising from the Godwin Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 59-29 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2022.

Mechanicsville's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Godwin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mechanicsville won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Henrico at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mechanicsville is facing Henrico at the right time seeing as Henrico is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Godwin, they and Thomas Jefferson will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played.
