Preview: Texas Wind vs. Morgan Eagles
Texas Wind is 3-0 against Morgan since December of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. Texas Wind's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Morgan Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Texas Wind has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 32 points or more this season. They breezed by Leon on the road to the tune of 73-41. With that victory, Texas Wind brought their scoring average up to 50.4 points per game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Texas Wind to victory, but perhaps none more so than Simeon Stegemoller, who scored 20 points. Grayson Bourland was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Meanwhile, Morgan entered their tilt with Bruceville-Eddy with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Morgan walked away with a 48-36 win over Bruceville-Eddy back in November. Given Morgan's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 483rd, while Bruceville-Eddy is ranked 1115th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Morgan got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Adrian Alonzo out in front who scored 21 points. The match was Alonzo's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Anthony Garcia, who scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals.
Vanguard College Prep's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Texas Wind's defeat dropped theirs to 5-3.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Texas Wind hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 50.4 points per game. It's a different story for Morgan, though, as they've been averaging only 72.7 per game. The only thing between Texas Wind and another offensive beatdown is Morgan. Texas Wind beat Morgan 75-68 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Texas Wind since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
