Baseball Game Preview: Orestimba Warriors vs. Gustine Reds

The Orestimba Warriors will head out to challenge the Gustine Reds at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

On Thursday, Orestimba didn't have quite enough to beat Grace Davis and fell 7-5. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly two runs.

Orestimba saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kevin Moreno, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Landon Marcotte also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Gustine ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Orestimba, sneaking past 6-4. That's two games straight that the Reds have won by exactly two runs.

Mike Saaranzin was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Gustine's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Campbell, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5.

Gustine has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. Orestimba's loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Orestimba couldn't quite finish off Gustine in their previous matchup on Wednesday and fell 6-4. Can Orestimba avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
