Baseball Recap: Lake Region Gets the Win

Lake Region hadn't done well against Freeport recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Lakers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Falcons a 12-0 shutout. This was payback for the Lakers, who suffered a 7-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Brock Gibbens made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Gibbens was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Matt Plummer was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Dylan Blair was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Lake Region didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-2 win against Yarmouth on the 3rd. As for Freeport, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 8-6 defeat against Gardiner on the 3rd.
