Basketball Recap: Port St. Lucie Skates Past South Fork with Ease

Port St. Lucie hadn't done well against South Fork recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Port St. Lucie Jaguars really took it to the South Fork Bulldogs for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-19 win. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 25 points or more this season.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Vivianna Morales, who posted three points along with 11 rebounds and four blocks. Morales is crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jodee Jurovschi, who earned five points and four steals.

Port St. Lucie has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points per game. As for South Fork, their loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port St. Lucie will venture away from home to square off against Melbourne Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for South Fork, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against John Carroll Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. John Carroll Catholic will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something South Fork surely won't give up without a fight.
