Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Doniphan-Trumbull's Tenth in Last 11 Outings

It's playoff time, and Doniphan-Trumbull had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 57-45 victory over the Ogallala Indians on Wednesday. 57 seems to be a good number for the Cardinals as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Leading Doniphan-Trumbull to victory were Parker Volk and Jack Poppe. Volk shot 4-for-7 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds, while Poppe went 7-for-16 on his way to 23 points along with five assists and five boards. Poppe's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Bennett, who posted ten points.

Doniphan-Trumbull has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. With the loss, Ogallala broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 24-2.

Coming up, Doniphan-Trumbull will square off against Concordia at 10:45 a.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Concordia sitting on four straight victories and Doniphan-Trumbull on five. Ogallala does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
