Baseball Recap: Southwest Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Southwest, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Western Hills Cougars 3-2. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Diego Moran made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Southwest is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-16 otherwise. Moran was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Moran wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joshua Jimenez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was Jimenez's first of the season.

Southwest's win bumped their record up to 9-17. As for Western Hills, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-18-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Southwest beat the Cougars by a score of 10-4 on Friday.
