On Thursday, Bowie was able to grind out a solid victory over Lamar, taking the game 45-38.
Jayden Bibbs continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 211 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.5% of his passes, and also rushing for 71 yards. Deontae Tennison II was in the mix too, providing Bowie with two scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bowie was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 263 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Meanwhile, South Grand Prairie got the win against Haltom on Friday by a conclusive 30-6. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 24 points or more this season.
South Grand Prairie had a senior duo take command as Cade Wallace gained 190 total yards and three touchdowns and Daylon Brooks threw for 247 yards and three TDs while completing 93.3% of his passes. Wallace also set a new season-high mark in receiving yards with 129. Another player making a difference was Cash Clark, who picked up 62 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Bowie's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for South Grand Prairie, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.
The upcoming game will be a clash of competing strengths. Bowie has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 319.4 passing yards per game. South Grand Prairie, on the other hand, has relied on a stout run game: they average 232.5 rushing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Thursday? There's only one way to find out.
