Soccer Game Preview: Mt. Mansfield vs. Colchester

The Mt. Mansfield Cougars will challenge the Colchester Lakers on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Mt. Mansfield sitting on five straight wins and Colchester on three.

Mt. Mansfield is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Champlain Valley Union, who was ranked first at the time (Mt. Mansfield was ranked second). The Cougars' defense stepped up to hand the Redhawks a 1-0 shutout on Saturday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Mt. Mansfield were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Colchester rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs, sneaking past 3-2.

Mt. Mansfield's victory bumped their record up to 11-2-1. As for Colchester, their win bumped their record up to 8-5-2.
