The Southern Choctaw Indians will head out to take on the Fruitdale Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Southern Choctaw earned an 8-5 victory over Washington County. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.
Gabby Land spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February.

At the plate, Keri McGee and Emerald Dunigan did most of the damage at the plate: McGee went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Dunigan scored three runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Dunigan a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Kensley McIlwain, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Fruitdale can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Choctaw County as Fruitdale made off with a 19-2 win.
Emma Box made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Box was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Fruitdale got a massive performance out of Skylar Loper, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Riley Savage also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Fruitdale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.6.
Fruitdale's record is now 4-13. As for Southern Choctaw, they now have a winning record of 7-6-1.
Southern Choctaw took their victory against Fruitdale when the teams last played back in February by a conclusive 12-2. Does Southern Choctaw have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fruitdale turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
