Softball Recap: Orting Finds Home Field Redemption Against Washington

There's no place like home for Orting, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Washington Patriots with a sharp 7-0 victory on Thursday. The Cardinals have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Patriots, too.

Kathryn Prest made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katie Arnett, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Madalynn Halte also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Orting pushed their record up to 1-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Washington, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-2.

Coming up, Orting will face off against Eatonville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals will need to watch out since the Cruisers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. As for Washington, they will take on Fife at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
