Basketball Game Preview: Tawas Area Braves vs. Houghton Lake Bobcats

The Tawas Area Braves will head out to take on the Houghton Lake Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tawas Area will be strutting in after a win while Houghton Lake will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Thursday, Tawas Area didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Rogers City, but they still walked away with a 25-21 victory.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Houghton Lake duked it out with Evart on Friday. Houghton Lake came up short against Evart, falling 53-30. The Bobcats have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Tawas Area is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.3 points over those games. Houghton Lake's loss dropped their record down to 5-15.

Tawas Area was able to grind out a solid win over Houghton Lake when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 45-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tawas Area since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
