Volleyball Recap: Mira Siebert's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gilmour Academy over St. Joseph Academy

After flying high against Ursuline Academy on Saturday, Gilmour Academy came back down to earth. The Lancers fell just short of the St. Joseph Academy Jaguars by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. If the Lancers were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Jaguars when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Gilmour Academy started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21, 15-8.

Gilmour Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Mira Siebert, who had 35 assists and five digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Martin, who had 21 digs.

Gilmour Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for St. Joseph Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gilmour Academy will face off against Magnificat at 6:30 p.m. on the 11th. As for St. Joseph Academy, they will challenge Avon Lake at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
