Baseball Game Preview: Randall Raiders vs. Clint Lions

The Randall Raiders will take on the Clint Lions on Thursday. Randall is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.

Randall is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Everything went their way against Fort Stockton as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The Raiders not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 31st (when they won 13-3).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clint). They put the hurt on Bowie with a sharp 19-1 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Daniel Ochoa made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off ten hits. He is becoming a predictor of Clint's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 8-1 (and 9-10-1 when he doesn't). Ochoa was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Oscar Maldonado was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abraham Medina, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Clint kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 13-2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Clint is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Randall, their record is now 22-8-1.
