Basketball Recap: Overton Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Eli Luther and Brock Mccarter

Overton suffered their biggest loss since February 28, 2024 on Friday. They lost 65-43 to the Shelton Bulldogs. The Eagles have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Overton's loss came despite strong showings from Brock McCarter and Eli Luther. McCarter went 6 of 11 on his way to 13 points and eight rebounds, while Luther went 6 of 15 on his way to 16 points and four steals. That was a full 37.2% of Overton's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Shelton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ben Myers, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 boards. Myers has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxson Ohlman, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 22 points and four steals.

Overton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Shelton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
