Baseball Recap: De La Salle Comes Up Short

De La Salle extended their losing streak to 12 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 6-13 in the process. They took a 14-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fenwick Friars. Even if the Meteors couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Jenaro Negron was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

As for Fenwick, their win bumped their record up to 8-9-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Fenwick's side, Liam Cahill looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Cahill has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Ben Jarnecke was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with six RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Lazewski, who went 4-for-5 with three runs and one RBI.

While De La Salle had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
