Softball Game Preview: Ellenville Blue Devils vs. Dover Dragons

For the first time this season, Ellenville will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will welcome the Dover Dragons at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Dover took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Ellenville, who comes in off a win.

Ellenville is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Friday. They never let Poughkeepsie get on the board and left with a 22-0 win. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Pioneers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Victoria Bonitz made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Bonitz was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Nevaeh Ramos was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Divine Wernick, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Dover fell victim to Rondout Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Ganders, falling 12-0. The Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ellenville took their win against Dover when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0 score. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
