Baseball Recap: Crooms Academy Gets the Win

After only two runs in their last match, Crooms Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Circle Christian on Thursday. The Panthers skirted past the Centurions 11-9. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Panthers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

The team relied heavily on Aiden Marcialis, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-5. He is becoming a predictor of Crooms Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Riveras, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Crooms Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Circle Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-14.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Crooms Academy will challenge Lake Highland Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers are facing the Highlanders at the right time seeing as the Highlanders are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Circle Christian, they will take on Lake Mary Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Griffins have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.61 runs per game on average), something the Centurions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
