Basketball Recap: Salem Comes Up Short on the Road Against Jefferson County

Salem kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a blow against the Jefferson County Tigers, falling 78-34. The Wildcats were down 64-24 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the defeat, Salem saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lincoln Quinn posted nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rustin Shoemake, who scored eight points and three steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Jefferson County and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Salem has already played their next game, a 55-49 win against Wilkinson County on the 14th. As for Jefferson County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-48 victory against McAdams on the 15th.
