Recap: St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders vs. Monarch Knights
The St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders entered their tilt with the Monarch Knights with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. St. Thomas Aquinas strolled past Monarch with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 35-19. Given St. Thomas Aquinas' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked third, while Monarch is ranked 49th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jordan Lyle was his usual excellent self, rushing for 230 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 14.4 yards per carry. Lyle was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.
Jabari Brady and Jack Spaeder certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Brady picked up 125 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Spaeder threw for 256 yards and two touchdowns. Clayton Cannon ii also helped out as he racked up 104 receiving yards.
St. Thomas Aquinas' win was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 9-1. As for Monarch, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Thomas Aquinas will take on Dillard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dillard will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last. As for Monarch, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Coral Springs at 7:00 p.m. on October 26th.
