            Football Recap: Rancho Bernardo Broncos vs. Oceanside Pirates        
        
		
        
        
            Rancho Bernardo blew Oceanside out of the water the last time the pair played, but  on Friday Oceanside got their revenge. The Broncos fell just short of the Pirates by a score of  24-21. The loss was the Broncos' first of the season.

When it comes to explaining why Rancho Bernardo lost, don't look at  Gaige Weddle. Despite the final result, he threw for 309 yards and one  TD while picking up 12.9 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 31 yards and a pair of  scores.  Hugo Gonzalez also helped out with an impressive 100  receiving yards.
 Rancho Bernardo didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of  Brody Cella and  Brady Savage.  Gavin Valencia was another major factor on D,  making 14 total tackles (3.0 for loss).
 Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Oceanside to victory, but perhaps none more so than   Neke Letuli, who rushed for 116 yards and one  touchdown. The Pirates are 4-1 when  Letuli posts 80 or  more  rushing yards, but 0-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of  Anthony Barquinero, who threw for 202 yards and a pair of  TDs on only 19 passes.
Having lost for the first time  this season, Rancho Bernardo  fell to 7-1. As for Oceanside, their win  ended  a  three-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 4-4.
 Rancho Bernardo wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  matchup,  a  56-0  loss against Mission Hills on the 24th. As for Oceanside, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  contest,  a  24-21  victory against Poway on the 24th.
