Baseball Game Preview: Smoky Hill Buffaloes vs. Grandview Wolves

For the second straight game, Smoky Hill will face off against Grandview. The Buffaloes will head out on the road to take on the Wolves at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Smoky Hill has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with four straight losses, while Grandview will come in with eight straight victories.

Smoky Hill fell victim to Grandview and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 9-0 to the Wolves.

For Grandview's part, Ethan Wachsmann looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Wachsmann has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Grandview got a massive performance out of Kyler Vaughn, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Vaughn has posted since back in March. Kayden Bohmeyer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

Grandview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Smoky Hill only posted a batting average of .000.

Grandview's win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Smoky Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Smoky Hill has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Grandview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
