The Mize Bulldogs and the Puckett Wolves will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mize is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.

Mize is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Jefferson Davis County on Tuesday. They fell 6-1 to the Jaguars. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Mize saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marissa Reyes, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Reyes hit this season.

Meanwhile, Puckett got themselves on the board against St. Andrew's Episcopal on Tuesday, but St. Andrew's Episcopal never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Saints as they made off with an 18-0 victory. Considering the Wolves have won four games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Puckett let Aubree Thomas and Meredith Shivers run wild. Thomas scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Shivers scored four runs while going 4-for-4. What's more, Shivers posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Erin Fletcher was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Puckett was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .588. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Puckett's record now sits at 7-4-1. As for Mize, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mize hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Puckett struggles in that department as they've averaged .363. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
