Basketball Recap: Soroco Takes a Loss

Soroco played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Hayden Tigers, falling 71-30. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Despite the loss, Soroco saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Braxton Zander posted six points.

Hayden was led to victory by Cameron Morrison and Jace Bene. Morrison dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds, while Bene went 10 of 16 en route to 25 points and four steals. Morrison has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Justin Preston, who scored seven points in addition to eight assists and five steals.

Soroco's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Hayden, the win snapped their losing streak at eight games and leaves them with a 2-11 record.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Vail Christian the next time they take the court. Soroco will head out to face Vail Christian at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Hayden will host them at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st.
