Volleyball Recap: Salem Comes Up Short

If Salem was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Winthrop on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Witches took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Mary's Spartans on Thursday. The Witches have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-22, 17-25, 25-14.

Despite the loss, Salem still got an impressive performance from Yanalis Ventura, who had 25 digs and six aces. Angelica Sciuto also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

Vanessa Magloire had an outrageously good game for St. Mary's as she had 28 digs and three aces. Magloire has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last ten times she's played.

Salem's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for St. Mary's, they now also have a winning record of 9-8.

Salem didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Lynn English on the 21st. As for St. Mary's, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate on the 21st.
