Baseball Recap: Sherrard Has No Trouble Against Bushnell-Prairie City

The Sherrard Tigers made easy work of the Bushnell-Prairie City Spartans on Monday and carried off a 10-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Zach Knox made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Sherrard let Garrett Woodward and Harrison Curry run wild. Woodward scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Curry scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Woodward has posted since back in April of 2024. Carter Brown was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Sherrard and bumps their season record up to 3-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Bushnell-Prairie City, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Sherrard will take on Farmington at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bushnell-Prairie City, they will head out to take on Cuba/Spoon River Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cuba/Spoon River Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Bushnell-Prairie City's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
