Basketball Recap: St. James Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when St. James challenged Tipton on Wednesday. The St. James Tigers were beaten by the Tipton Cardinals 71-36. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Cardinals are ranked fifth).

Tipton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Schlotzhauer out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards. Schlotzhauer has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 37 times she's played. Clara Williams was another key player, going 8 of 15 en route to 19 points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

With the loss, St. James broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-2. As for Tipton, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.

St. James wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-63 defeat against California on the 18th. Tipton has also already played their next matchup, a 71-38 victory against Chillicothe on the 18th.
