Softball Game Preview: Bristol Eastern Lancers vs. Conard Red Wolves

Bristol Eastern has gone a perfect 4-0 against Conard recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Lancers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Wolves at 3:45 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Bristol Eastern took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Hall as they made off with a 15-3 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lancers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Hailey Beebe made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Bristol Eastern let Gracie Brown and Maria Albert run wild. Brown got on base in three of her four plate appearances with six stolen bases and three runs, while Albert went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those six stolen bases gave Brown a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leah Webber, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Conard got themselves on the board against Farmington on Tuesday, but Farmington never followed suit. They put the hurt on the River Hawks with a sharp 12-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Red Wolves in their matchups with the River Hawks: they've now won five in a row.

Bristol Eastern's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Conard, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.

Everything went Bristol Eastern's way against Conard in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Bristol Eastern made off with a 17-5 victory. Do the Lancers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
