Basketball Recap: North Sanpete Sets Scoring Season-High Against Manti

North Sanpete scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell to the Manti Templars 74-68. The Hawks just can't catch a break and have now endured seven losses in a row.

Ridge Hendry and McKay Schlappi certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Hendry dropped a double-double with 26 points and ten rebounds, while Schlappi posted 14 points along with six assists and five boards. That was a full 38.2% of North Sanpete's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Braddock Epps, who had seven points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: North Sanpete was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Manti's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carter Mason led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 15 points and nine assists. Mason is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games he's played. Dax Anderson was another key player, going 8 for 12 on his way to 26 points and five boards.

North Sanpete's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Manti, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-12.

North Sanpete wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-52 loss against Emery on the 5th. As for Manti, they have also already played their next match, a 74-66 defeat against Juab on the 5th.
