Basketball Game Preview: Artesia Bulldogs vs. Hobbs Eagles

Artesia is 1-9 against Hobbs since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Artesia Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Hobbs Eagles at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Artesia's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.

Artesia is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Roswell, who was ranked sixth at the time (Artesia was ranked 18th). Artesia fell just short of Roswell by a score of 59-57 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since December 16, 2023.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Hobbs' good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 84-75 to Cleveland. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (68), the Eagles still had to take the loss.

Artesia's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6. As for Hobbs, their loss dropped their record down to 16-3.

Things could have been worse for Artesia, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took an 81-65 loss to Hobbs when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Artesia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
