Softball Recap: 18 Straight Home Victories for Wellsville

Wellsville came out on top against Salem on Sunday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Lions blew past the Generals 15-1. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Kennedy Perry made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Perry was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

In other batting news, Ayla Faulkner and Natalie Adams did most of the damage at the plate: Faulkner got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Adams went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Faulkner has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Lindsay Stuck, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Wellsville pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Salem, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Wellsville will head out on the road to take on Ballston Spa at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Scotties have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season. As for Salem, they will challenge Argyle at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
