Flag Football Recap: Davis Sr. Comes Up Short

Davis Sr. fell victim to Granite Bay and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They were beaten by the Grizzlies 45-0. Having soared to a lofty 40 points in the game before, the Blue Devils' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Davis Sr. didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ariana Lopez and Suzzette Cruz.

Maddie Benedyuk was a one-woman wrecking crew For Granite Bay. as she picked up 32 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also punched in one rushing score. Those 32 receiving yards gave Benedyuk a new career-high.

Davis Sr.'s loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Granite Bay, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Davis Sr. will square off against rival St. Francis at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Granite Bay is set to face off against their familiar foe Del Oro at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Grizzlies 7.8, the Golden Eagles 11.3) so any points scored will be well earned.
