Galax has gone 8-1-1 against Giles recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Maroon Tide will square off against the Spartans at 7:15 p.m. Galax will be strutting in after a win while Giles will be coming in after a loss.

If Giles heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Galax took over last week. The Maroon Tide won by a goal and slipped past George Wythe 2-1. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Galax's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while George Wythe are ranked 146th).

Meanwhile, Giles was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of George Wythe. Giles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against George Wythe since on Thursday.

Giles' loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Galax, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2-1.

Galax beat Giles by a goal when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Maroon Tide since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
