Basketball Recap: Box Elder Bees vs. Woods Cross Wildcats

The Box Elder Bees pushed their score all the way to 58 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 65-58 to Woods Cross. Box Elder was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Despite the loss, Box Elder still got an impressive performance from Elijah Kersey, who scored 29 points along with two steals. Kersey has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Max Isaacson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Woods Cross to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hunter Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Jackson has scored at least a third of Woods Cross' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Michaelis, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Box Elder and nudges their season record down to 7-11. As for Woods Cross, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Box Elder will take on the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Viewmont has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 492 points over their last seven matches. As for Woods Cross, they will head out on the road to face off against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Clearfield is ranked 86th, while the Wildcats are ranked 89th).
