Baseball Recap: Wyomissing Has No Trouble Against Antietam

While Wyomissing didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Antietam Mountaineers on Monday. That looming 12-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Spartans yet this season.

Zander Westwood was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Westwood was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Curran Cirulli, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. That hit was his first of the season. Ryan Graham was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Wyomissing pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Antietam, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wyomissing will welcome Conrad Weiser at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans are facing the Scouts at the right time seeing as the Scouts are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Antietam, they will host Brandywine Heights Area at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mountaineers will also cruise into their next match with the timing on their side: the Bullets will have lost five straight heading into Wednesday's game.
