Recap: Dunnellon Tigers vs. West Port Wolf Pack
Even though the Dunnellon Tigers have not done well against the West Port Wolf Pack recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Dunnellon came out on top in a nail-biter against West Port and snuck past 58-55. Winning may never get old, but Dunnellon sure is getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Leading Dunnellon to victory were Tatiana Matthews and Princess Hardin. Matthews scored 26 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Hardin scored 27 points along with three steals. The contest was Matthews' 13th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamyra Reid, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Dunnellon pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for West Port, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-6.
Dunnellon is on the road again on Saturday and play against Buchholz at 3:30 p.m. on January 6th. Buchholz will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for West Port, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oak Ridge at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
