Basketball Recap: Chaparral Takes a Loss

Chaparral was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Vista Murrieta Broncos 79-48. While losing is never fun, the Pumas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 463rd, while the Broncos are ranked 79th).

Chaparral's loss came despite strong showings from Kaleb Austin and Andrew De La Torre. Austin went 5 of 9 to rack up 13 points, while De La Torre posted 11 points and five boards. De La Torre is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Brandon Martin was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Chaparral's loss dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Vista Murrieta, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Chaparral nor Vista Murrieta have any future games scheduled.
