League recap: Oologah climbs in standings with win

4A District 3 recap September 17, 2013

Oologah was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in 4A District 3. The Mustangs defeated Skiatook 23-13 earlier in the week.

Webster lost to Berryhill 38-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Cleveland's dynamic duo of Derek Reeves and Chase Mcwhirt proved tough for Mannford to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Reeves threw for 261 yards and Mcwhirt had 111 yards receiving. Tyler Myles helped Cleveland's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 78 yards.

The Tigers' dynamic duo of Reeves and Mcwhirt proved to be unstoppable against the Pirates, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Reeves put up the best numbers through the air as Cleveland lost to Mannford.

BREYDEN DeSPAIN was a key player and the best on defense this week as Oologah bested the Bulldogs. The 6-foot-2 sophomore.

Mcwhirt was the best wideout in the league this week as Dale Anderson's team lost to Eddy Scott's team.

JIMMY MCKINNEY was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 185 yards on 26 carries as Brandon Craig's team lost to the Pirates.

Cleveland's Reeves and Myles have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A District 3 in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Reeves has thrown for 437 yards this season, while Myles has 8 catches for 188 yards. MCKINNEY from the Mustangs leads the league in rushing with 342 yards.

McLain Science & Tech and Sperry played the most contested game in the league this week, with McLain Science & Tech eventually emerging with a 22-16 victory. Joshua Jacobs ran for 182 yards and caught 4 passes for 48 yards in the win.
