Baseball Game Preview: Hedgesville Eagles vs. Washington Patriots

The Hedgesville Eagles will take on the Washington Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hedgesville will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Hedgesville is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Washington, who was ranked 14th at the time (Hedgesville was ranked 16th). The Eagles came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 9-4 on Wednesday.

Mason McGill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Austin Manor was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Cash Dunham, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Hedgesville's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Washington, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10-1 record this season.
