Preview: West Forsyth Titans vs. R.J. Reynolds Demons
Two dominant guards in Jacari Brim and Antoine Jones Jr. are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The West Forsyth Titans will be playing at home against the R.J. Reynolds Demons at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. West Forsyth knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten contests -- so hopefully R.J. Reynolds likes a good challenge.
Even though Davie scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, West Forsyth still came out on top. West Forsyth walked away with a 72-59 win over Davie.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Forsyth to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cameron White, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Brim was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten assists.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for R.J. Reynolds, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 68-49 loss to East Forsyth on Tuesday. R.J. Reynolds has struggled against East Forsyth recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
R.J. Reynolds' defeat came about despite a quality game from Jones Jr., who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Jones Jr. hasn't dropped below 17 points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Boone, who scored six points.
West Forsyth pushed their record up to 16-5 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.9 points per game. As for R.J. Reynolds, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as West Forsyth and R.J. Reynolds are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. West Forsyth hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 68.3 points per game. However, it's not like R.J. Reynolds struggles in that department as they've been averaging 60.6 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
West Forsyth was able to grind out a solid win over R.J. Reynolds in their previous matchup back in January, winning 70-59. Does West Forsyth have another victory up their sleeve, or will R.J. Reynolds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
