Marlboro Central won the last time they faced Saugerties and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Marlboro Central Dukes strolled past the Saugerties Sawyers with points to spare, taking the game 46-31. Given the Dukes' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Sawyers are ranked 413th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Saugerties' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sonia Tchuinte, who posted 12 points. The dominant performance also gave Tchuinte a new career-high in blocks (two). Helene Kerr was another key player, putting up five points and seven rebounds.

Marlboro Central is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Saugerties, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.

Marlboro Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-51 loss against Roosevelt on the 13th. As for Saugerties, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 37-26 victory against Spackenkill on the 14th.
