Softball Recap: Weaver Takes a Loss

Weaver was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 19-7 to the Academy of International Studies Dragons. The Beavers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Johnnielys Ortiz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Ortiz is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least two every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Shevena Manning, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Weaver's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Academy of International Studies, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Weaver will face off against Coginchaug Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Academy of International Studies, they will square off against Academy of Science and Innovation at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
