Baseball Recap: Coral Reef Find Success

Coral Reef's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They never let the Hialeah Thoroughbreds get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Barracudas have posted since April 25, 2024.

Adrian Nunez looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

At the plate, Willy Vega was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. He also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season. Dylan Quinzada was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Coral Reef kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Coral Reef's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Hialeah, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coral Reef will venture away from home to take on Southridge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Southridge will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Hialeah, they will head out on the road to square off against Coral Shores at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Coral Shores will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Hialeah surely won't give up without a fight.
