Salem proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by seven) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Charleston Trojans 7-6. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.
Reagan SHuler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on 14 hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaelyn Keller, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Mya Russell, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Salem is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 19 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Charleston, their loss dropped their record down to 16-11.
As of now, neither Salem nor the Trojans have any future games scheduled.
